Saxophone
Offering In-Person and Virtual Instruction

I have been playing the saxophone since 1995 and have been teaching it privately since 2003. My journey in music led me to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where I received multiple awards in music and music performance.
As a passionate musician, I find myself performing on soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, delving into a wide range of musical styles, including classical, concert, jazz, pop, Latin, and funk. My love for music drives me to collaborate with various bands and ensembles, such as Men In Suits, Fat Brass Inc, and the Big Band Reunion.
My lessons encompass the entire spectrum of saxophone playing, starting from the fundamentals like proper embouchure, tone, hand position, dynamics, and counting rhythms. As we progress, I introduce more advanced techniques like vibrato, altissimo, improvisation, growling, false/alternate fingerings, and more. Moreover, I love delving into the rich history of the saxophone.
Teaching students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players, brings me immense joy. I take pride in tailoring my lessons to match each student's unique educational and performing aspirations.

I'm Theresa Martin, and I've been offering private instruction in piano, clarinet, and composition since 2009. Music is my passion, and I'm grateful to be an internationally recognized, award-winning composer. My love for music has taken me to universities across the country, where I serve as a guest lecturer.
My journey in music education has been rich and diverse. I earned my DMA in composition at the University of Michigan and pursued Masters' degrees in both composition and clarinet performance at Arizona State University. Additionally, I've dedicated 17 years to studying the piano.
As a performer, you can find me frequently playing both clarinet and piano at my church, local ensembles, and even at international music conferences. It's a joy to share my music with others and connect through the power of melodies.
In my teaching journey, I've had the pleasure of nurturing talented students who have gone on to win music competitions, scholarships, and even Fulbright fellowships. I teach students of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and I offer both in-person and online lessons to accommodate your needs.
When I'm not immersed in composing, teaching, or performing, you'll find me cherishing precious moments with my husband, son, daughter, and two adorable cats. If you want to learn more about me and my musical endeavors, feel free to explore my website: www.theresamartin.net.
