Yamaha Custom Z YAS-82ZIIA Alto Saxophone - Amber Lacquer

The Yamaha YAS-82ZIIA is a Custom Z alto saxophone finished in Amber lacquer with a special topcoat that keeps it looking beautiful for years. Craftsmen hand-engrave the signature “anemone” design after lacquering to heighten the contrast with the brass. The bell is hand-hammered from a single sheet of brass, which gives the instrument a solid tone and smoother intonation in the middle and lower range. A traditional 62-style body in custom-optimized brass brightens the sound and lightens the playing feel.

The V1 neck’s wide bore taper offers a free-blowing feel and broad flexibility. The nickel silver custom-style neck receiver adds focused tone and quick response, and it accepts Custom Z and Custom EX necks (sold separately). Metal resonator pads deliver a wide dynamic range and clear articulation across the horn. A bow without a reinforcing plate and two-point contact keep resistance low and response free. Integrated key posts and a bell ring add resonance and a moderate amount of resistance.

On the mechanical side, the ergonomic key layout fits naturally under the hands. A ball-joint octave key provides smoother, quicker action, and an adjustable teardrop front F key can be set to your preference. Mother of pearl key buttons offer a soft but secure grip, and a redesigned left-hand seesaw key improves comfort. An improved low B–C# connection ensures consistent closure for clear low notes. Separate key guards with adjustable screw-cap stoppers allow professional-style adjustments, and a lightweight ASC-820 case with shoulder strap is included.
