Celebrating Music Education Across Our Community
As Music In Our Schools Month comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible community that showed up in such a big way. From classrooms and band rooms to stages and practice spaces, the creativity, pride, and passion for music education was on full display.
Together, nearly 70 school programs shared about 250 unique images that captured what music means to their students, educators, and communities. Those moments inspired tens of thousands of votes, with the top program receiving an incredible 1,153 votes of support. Every submission and every vote told a story about the power of music and the role it plays in shaping young lives.
At Heid Music, supporting music education is at the heart of everything we do, and this month was a powerful reminder of why. We are honored to celebrate alongside the schools, educators, students, families, and partners who make music programs thrive. Thank you for sharing your stories, your voices, and your love of music with us. Each March, Heid Music proudly celebrates Music In Our Schools Month® (MIOSM®), a national observance led for more than 40 years by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) to raise awareness about the importance of music education for every child and to reinforce that schools are where all students should have access to high-quality music programs. As a company rooted in music education since 1948, we believe music is an essential part of a well-rounded education, supporting academic achievement, attendance, social-emotional growth, creativity, and confidence. Music In Our Schools Month® provides an important opportunity to spotlight the incredible work of music educators and to remind families and community leaders that protecting and strengthening school music programs requires ongoing advocacy, especially in a state where arts funding remains critically low. Throughout March and beyond, we stand alongside NAfME and educators across the country in championing equitable access to music education for all students
You can enter one original photo every day throughout March. The total votes from all individual submissions representing your music program will be counted at the end of the month. The music program with the most votes will get first pick from the prize pool, followed by second and third place, and so on. Share your original photo submissions on social media to rally support for your music program! Don't forget to use hashtags #MusicInOurSchools and #Big10Plus in your caption and tag @HeidMusic.
