The Roland FANTOM 8 EX is the latest chapter in Roland’s premier workstation series, building on every feature of its predecessor with multiple advanced sound engines, expanded composition and performance tools, and a premium 88-note weighted hammer-action keyboard with channel aftertouch. It’s a complete creative ecosystem for professional sound design, sequencing, and performance.

At its core are Roland’s most advanced engines: ACB, ZEN-Core, V-Piano, SuperNATURAL, and Virtual ToneWheel. Together they power over 7,000 onboard sounds from Roland’s historic library. ACB Expansions recreate the JUPITER-8, SH-101, JX-3P, and JUNO-106, and Model Expansions cover the n/zyme, JD-800, JUNO-106, JUPITER-8, JX-8P, and SH-101. Pianists get the V-Piano engine with the German Concert V-Piano Expansion 01 preinstalled, along with the SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3 Expansion. Organists get Virtual ToneWheel organs derived from the Roland VK series. A massive effects library adds new Shimmer and Modulation Reverbs, a Master FX processor with Mastering Comp and EQ presets, and a 32-band stereo vocoder.

For creating and performing, the FANTOM 8 EX offers clip-based sequencing, a TR-REC step sequencer, piano-roll editing, and advanced sampling with multisample support. It’s all controlled from a large color touchscreen, an ergonomic panel of knobs, buttons, and sliders, and 16 RGB pads. Comprehensive I/O includes multichannel audio, MIDI, dual CV/gate outputs, and a 16x3 USB audio/MIDI interface, with dedicated control modes for Ableton Live, Logic Pro, MainStage, Cubase, and Studio One.
