The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2 brings a rediscovered late-1970s circuit design back to life, delivering a distinct take on the classic Big Muff sound. Developed from an original hand-drawn schematic by EHX founder Mike Matthews and inventor Bob Myer, this dual op-amp design offers singing sustain, high gain, booming lows, and a crispy top end with a slightly more dynamic and fuzzy response.

A Rediscovered Big Muff Circuit

The Big Muff Pi 2 is based on a unique dual op-amp circuit designed by Bob Myer in the late 1970s but never released at the time. The design was rediscovered years later in Myer's workshop by Josh Scott of JHS Pedals and Daniel Danger, then decoded and brought to life as the Big Muff Pi 2. The result is a Big Muff-inspired fuzz with its own edge, response, and clipping character.

Powerful Fuzz and Singing Sustain

The Big Muff Pi 2 delivers gobs of gain and sustained fuzz with a particularly expressive character. Its crispy high end, booming low end, and slightly less refined clipping give it a rawer feel than the classic Big Muff Pi. The SUSTAIN control moves from medium grit to full fuzz intensity, while the TONE control ranges from brash rasp to deep, thunderous lows.

Compact Design and Flexible Footswitching

Housed in a compact nano-sized die-cast chassis, the Big Muff Pi 2 provides the familiar three-control layout of VOL, TONE, and SUSTAIN. Silent true bypass switching preserves your signal when the effect is disengaged, while the footswitch offers both standard latching operation and momentary action for short bursts of fuzz.
