We've got an extraordinary event coming up that you won't want to miss – the Fox Valley Sinfonia's grand performance on Saturday, May 18th, at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. What is a Sinfoniac?

A Sinfoniac is a Fox Valley community member who's willing to take a leap and learn a new musical instrument. These brave souls join the Fox Valley Sinfonia, supporting the real Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra (FVSO) while embarking on a unique and exhilarating musical journey.

What is the Fox Valley Sinfonia?

The Fox Valley Sinfonia is a delightful ensemble of about 60 Sinfoniacs, each taking five lessons on a new instrument. After these lessons, they come together for four rehearsals as a full orchestra, culminating in a once-in-a-lifetime live concert under the baton of local conductor Craig Kellenberger. It’s a blend of new musical adventures, community engagement, and pure fun!

What’s in it for the Fox Valley Symphony?

The Sinfonia helps the FVSO in numerous ways:

• Expanding Reach: Sharing the joy of symphonic music with new audiences.
• Increased Awareness: Raising the profile of the FVSO in our community.
• Fundraising: Aiming to raise at least $50,000 to support the upcoming FVSO season and its youth orchestra program.

What’s Expected of You?

As a Sinfoniac, you’ll:

• Fundraise: Raise at least $350 through pledges from friends, family, or personal contributions (we’ll help with fundraising tips).
• Take Lessons: Participate in five lessons with your instrument group.
• Attend Rehearsals: Join three full-ensemble rehearsals plus the dress rehearsal.
• Promote the Event: Encourage friends, neighbors, and the broader community to attend the concert.

Can You Choose Your Instrument?

When you sign up, you can list your top instrument choices and any you'd prefer to avoid. To ensure a balanced sound, our conductor will make the final decisions. You'll find out your instrument assignment and meet your instructor at the instrument unveiling party at Heid Music.
