Description
This violin is a lovely example of French luthier Jean-Baptiste Colin's work, bearing his label and made in Mirecourt in 1904. Built on a Stradivari-inspired model, it is closely related in both craftsmanship and refined tonal character to the earlier instruments of Collin-Mézin père. A beautifully flamed maple back is complemented by hand-applied, honey-colored oil varnish. The professional setup includes rosewood fittings, a Kevlar tailgut, Chevalet Despiau supérieur bridge and Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings. This exceptionally well-made violin offers warmth as well as projection, ideally suited to advanced players seeking a refined sound that will continue to develop with age.
