Originating in France as the Fête de la Musique, this joyful event now spans over 1,000 cities in 120+ countries, inviting everyone—from seasoned performers to first-time players—to share in the universal language of music.

At Heid Music, we believe music is for everyone. That’s why we’re hosting free, interactive events at all five of our locations—Appleton, Green Bay, Stevens Point, Madison, and Oshkosh—to help you explore, play, and connect through music.

Try Something New: Fun First-Time Instruments

Not sure where to start? Make Music Day is the perfect time to try a new instrument—especially one that’s easy to learn and fun to play. Here are a few of our favorite beginner-friendly picks:

• Ukulele – With just four strings and a cheerful sound, the ukulele is a great first instrument for all ages.
• Harmonica – Small, portable, and surprisingly expressive, harmonicas are perfect for blues, folk, and pop.
• Hand Percussion – Instruments like djembes, shakers, and tongue drums are intuitive, rhythmic, and great for group play.
• Boomwhackers – Colorful, tuneful tubes that make music accessible and fun for kids and adults alike.
