Description

A rare and remarkable piece of American guitar history, this 1930s Larson Brothers Prairie State Euphonon 00-style acoustic guitar is a true survivor from the golden age of steel-string craftsmanship. Built in Chicago by the legendary Larson Brothers, Euphonon models are celebrated for their powerful projection, rich harmonic complexity, and innovative bracing designs that helped define the sound of early American acoustic guitars.

This particular instrument carries a deeply personal provenance. It was brought to Heid Music by the family of the original owner, who purchased the guitar new in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. For decades, it served as a cherished family instrument, accompanying countless campfire singalongs and gatherings, and developing the warm, open voice that only time and music can create.

Before being offered for sale, the guitar was carefully evaluated by our in-house luthier. Much of the internal bracing, which had become slightly loose over time, has been professionally reattached to ensure long-term structural stability and optimal resonance. Any cracks found on the top, back, or sides have been fully stabilized. The bridge reglue and replacement saddle were completed prior to our acquiring the instrument. Aside from these necessary and respectful repairs, the guitar remains all original.

Cosmetically, the instrument shows honest finish wear, light haze, and age-related patina consistent with a well-loved guitar approaching a century old. These visual details speak to its history and authenticity rather than detract from it. Sonically, the guitar is alive and responsive, offering a beautifully mature tone with clarity, depth, and projection that modern instruments simply cannot replicate.

A non-original hard case is included for protection.

This is a rare opportunity to own a genuine Larson Brothers Euphonon with local history, professional restoration work, and exceptional musical character—an instrument equally at home in the hands of a collector or a discerning player who appreciates vintage tone and legacy craftsmanship.
