One core value at Heid Music is to educate and entertain. This is exactly the intention behind all of Heid Music’s in-person and virtual events. We offer virtual and in-person lessons, group classes, workshops, and jams to keep ukulele players learning, growing, and playing together. Looking for an in-person Uke Jam experience? On the second Thursday of each month, join Heid Music teacher Debbie Wagner in a fun, interactive ukulele jam at New Moon Café in Oshkosh, WI from 6:00pm-8:00pm CST. 

Looking for a virtual Uke Jam experience? The Uke Jams are live on Heid Music's Facebook page on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00pm CST. Heid Music

Heid Music team members, Leah and Mackenzie, teamed up to host the first Uke Jam of 2022. Within this Uke Jam, the duo premiered the new Uke Jam intro song, played through a few of their favorite tunes, and showed off the Dhani Harrison Fender Ukulele. Covering artists from James Taylor to Amy Winehouse, this jam includes music that spans a variety of players.

   

 

 

 

Abigail Flowers

Recently voted “Best Jazz Vocalist” in the Nashville Industry Music Awards, Abigail is an undeniable talent in the Nashville jazz community. She can be seen performing in the town’s premiere venues (including the Nashville Jazz Workshop and Rudy’s Jazz Room) and as the featured vocalist with the Music City Big Band. Abigail performs seasonally as a member of the Grand Hotel Orchestra at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan. Abigail Flowers plays baritone ukulele and is a Lanikai Ukulele Artist. In addition to solo work, Abigail arranges for jazz vocal trio and ukulele with arrangements available online. Ben Hassenger

Ben Hassenger’s musical career began in the early 1970s when he was arrested for playing “Smoke on the Water” on accordion and singing in animal sounds in the cafeteria at Lansing Community College. It was the start of something special, for sure. Ben now teaches ukulele to students and teachers in Michigan school systems, seniors at Prime Time in East Lansing, as well as group and individual ukulele lessons at Elderly Instruments, Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Michigan State University’s Community Music School. He plays guitar and ukulele in the bands Blue Jello and The Ukulele Kings and is the co-founder of the Lansing (MI) Area Ukulele Group and the organizer of the Mighty Uke Day festival, Interlochen’s Uketoberfest, and the Midwest Uke & Harmonica Camp in Olivet. He is also a prolific songwriter, with two of his songs about the Detroit Tigers enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Ben’s a fun and involving performer with a variety of original songs about dogs, food, love, Michigan, and the other important things in life.

 

 

 

Devin Scott

Armed with a ukulele and a big, unexpected voice, Devin Scott easily entertains audiences of all ages. Performing everything from Coolio to Patsy Cline, Devin aims to include every one of his listeners. “It’s just more fun when people are enjoying and participating, so I try to make sure that everyone has something they can sing along to.” After only a few years of performing with the ukulele at open mic nights in his hometown of Sikeston, Missouri, Devin began to realize the joy it gave to him and others and has made it his goal to play for as many people as he can. “It’s so amazing to watch an entire group of people enjoy something so much together.” Traveling around the country, teaching and leading jam sessions, singing for audiences in restaurants, bars, high in the Rocky Mountains, around campfires and even floating down the San Juan River, Devin is well on his way to accomplishing his goal of spreading the joy of the ukulele! Katie DeNure

Katie DeNure is a classically trained vocalist that teaches guitar and voice in a wide range of styles. She is also a singer/songwriter. Since 2002, Katie has had the privilege to lead music for hundreds of Youth Conferences, Women's Retreats, Young Adult Gatherings, Special Events, and Church Services. Katie has been teaching private music lessons for since 2008, and has also worked with the Renaissance School for the Arts and other area schools in the Fox Valley. In addition, Katie owns and operates One Music School, and has over 350,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel! Katie is also a fluent Spanish speaker and is a certified teacher in Bilingual/ELL and Regular Education. Visit One Music School here!

Lanikai Ukuleles creates quality instruments that are suitable for all players. Lanikai Ukuleles has hosted a few Uke Jams throughout 2020-2021 with the help of a few of their team members, The Laniguys. Their knowledge and skills made for a fun and informative Uke Jam. Matt Taylor

YouTube Personality and talented uke player, Matt from U Can Uke, will be joining Heid Music for the July Uke Jam! With almost half a million subscribers and 42 million views, he is a go-to for many uke players to learn songs of all genres! In 2020, Flight Ukuleles partnered with U Can Uke to design their first ever concert-size travel ukulele, featuring original artwork from the ukulele community.

Lendl San Jose or "Ukulenny" is a talented musician who plays over 12 instruments including ukulele, guitar, bass, saxophone, violin, and many more! In 2010, he decided to start a YouTube channel and has since accumulated over 75,000 subscribers. He is now a sponsored Kala Brand Artist who creates a variety of ukulele related content for both Kala's website as well as his YouTube channel. From leading ukulele events at NAMM shows to performing at weddings to teaching independent lessons, Ukulenny is a talented musician with a lot of experience and charisma. Heid Music

Heid Music team member, Mackenzie, and talented musician and ukulele teacher, Deb, kicked off Heid Music’s Uke Jams together in early 2020. Mackenzie has played ukulele for about 10 years. She enjoys leading workshops and playing music alongside her friends and family. Deb is a local musician who is fantastic on a variety of fretted instruments. She enjoys teaching lessons, workshops and running live jams around the community.

Sam Bader

Sam Bader is a Native Hawaiian musician and multi-instrumentalist who first picked up the ukulele at 9 years old. He grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii in a family of musicians and has performed in front of a wide range of private and public audiences throughout the Hawaiian islands. A graduate of Lawrence University, Sam has had the privilege of leading group ukulele lessons at Neenah Public Library and ukulele classes alongside Katie DeNure. Now living in New Mexico, he continues to teach and play ukulele regularly. We’re excited for Sam to share his expertise and lead an awesome virtual jam!
