Chris Salerno - Bio
I have a Bachelor of Music Education degree from VanderCook College of Music and 17 years of teaching experience. I studied the Euphonium with Roger Rocco, former principal tubist for the Honolulu and Seattle Symphony Orchestras, and first call substitute for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
I have a Master of Arts degree from Radford University where I studied with composer Mark Camphouse. A published composer and an accomplished arranger and orchestrator, I orchestrated tracks on the CD’s for the Standard Of Excellence and Tradition of Excellence Band Methods and the String Basics Method, all published by Kjos. I also worked as music editor for Kjos where I contributed both arranged and original music for exercises appearing in the Standard of Excellence Book 3 Comprehensive Band Method. I was an arranger on Martha Bassett’s Christmas album Magnificat. I later arranged it for her performance with the Winston Salem Symphony Orchestra.
My music has twice received Reviewer’s Choice in The Instrumentalist Magazine and has been recorded by the Royal Northern College of Music Wind Orchestra in Great Britain, and performed by the West Point Military Academy Band. I was twice selected for the New Music Symposium in Virginia and served one year as a judge for the Symposium.
I work with students of all ages and love making lessons interesting with a variety of activities. I hope to cultivate an appreciation, understanding, and love of music that will bring joy for the rest of your life. For more information, please visit his website.
