The Buzz: Heid Music shows off new store in Green Bay

Heid Music, based in Appleton, beefed up its Green Bay presence. The music store moved up the street to a new location at 2605 S. Oneida St. in November. This week, it will celebrate the move and completed expansion with musical performances, giveaways, contests and vendor presentations.

Heid Music will host a grand opening June 4-7 at its store in Shoppes at the Village, 2605 S. Oneida St.


Assemble the Ensemble

From April 27 – May 11, you can help local middle school students Make Music by donating your used instruments. Sherman, Blackhawk, and O’Keeffe Middle Schools are teaming up with Heid Music and Food Fight Restaurant Group to launch a used instrument drive, a project dubbed “Assemble the Ensemble.” These schools currently have a shortage of instruments, with students having to alternate use of instruments during band practice.

If you played an instrument in your youth, you’re likely to face a dilemma these days. You still own your old trumpet, clarinet or French horn, but no longer have a use for it. It remains tucked away in a remote closet, cold and lonely, desperate to see the outside world again one day.


Heid Music Concert Series schedule unveiled

Summer is on its way, and with it comes the weekly tradition of free outdoor live music in downtown Appleton on Thursday nights. The three-month slate for the Heid Music Concert Series will feature a number of familiar acts. Boogie and the Yo Yo’z kick off the series at 5:30 p.m. June 5 at Houdini Plaza, followed by a run of performances by RPM, Boxkar, Road Trip, Half Empty, Cool Waters Band and more throughout the summer. Vic Ferrari will close out the concert series with an Aug. 28 show.

Time to ‘Assemble the Ensemble’

The leadership of Sherman, Black Hawk and O’Keeffe Middle Schools, Heid Music and Food Fight Restaurant Group have come together to launch a pilot program designed to put instruments into the hands of ALL aspiring musicians. This used instrument drive, dubbed “Assemble the Ensemble,” runs April 27 - May 11 with three Food Fight restaurants serving as the drop off locations.


Local Music Talents Combine with Businesses to Bolster Future Generations of Musicians

With the dual goal of recognizing exceptional music skills and supporting local school music education, the Oshkosh Music Artist Series (OMAS) was born. A labor of musical love, Oshkosh Scene editor Justin Mitchell and Heid Music’s Kristin Masarik developed the concept of the series: Biannual concerts featuring varying genres of music that generate revenue for different Oshkosh area music programs. One hundred percent of the proceeds from each concert supports students and teachers.


Jason Busse Awarded Heid Music’s Teacher of the Year

Heid Music is initiating a new recognition program to reward our highest-performing music educators and encourage our corps of teachers here at Heid to push themselves to the next level. The Teacher of the Year award will be presented annually to a Heid Music teacher who exhibits community engagement and continued learning, as well as actively partners with the Heid Music team to provide the best overall collaborative experience for his or her students.
