Jim H., Brass - Offering In-Person Instruction
Jim holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Lawrence University and recently retired after 37 years of teaching high school band in the Coleman School District. In addition, Jim also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Silver Lake College. Jim is comfortable teaching all standard band instruments and enjoys assisting students realize their full musical potential. He appreciates seeing students improve their skills over time and enjoys seeing the personal pleasure they gain in their musical accomplishments. Jim is a Master Adjudicator in the State of Wisconsin for WSMA sanctioned solo & ensemble festivals, and is a founding member of the NorthEastWisconsin (NEW) concert band, an 80+ ensemble of adult musicians.
Ken holds a B.A. from St. Norbert, a Master's Degree in Music Performance from Northwestern University and Doctoral Studies at Northwestern University. He is retired from teaching 5-12 grade band and general music with thirty-seven years at West De Pere Public Schools. Ken is a master adjudicator for WSMA Music Festivals and has judged district and state festivals since 1972. He has served on the board for secondary music education for the Wisconsin School Music Association. He has played with the Green Bay Packer Band for over twenty years and led on of the tailgate-gate bands for nine years. He has his own jazz band, The River City Six, and is the director of the De Pere City Band.
