Stunning vibes flow off of this beautiful aged and finish checked original German Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass. Perfect for players and collectors alike.
Excellent playability on this straight and true neck. The frets and fingerboard show little play throughout. There is evidence of the neck possibly having a neck reset previous to us having the instrument. Minor various dings and nicks are throughout the headstock. The serial number tag looks to be partially cut and only shows three of the five numbers.
Flamed maple back shows light buckle rash throughout and while the flame maple sides show finish checking throughout. One small finish chip is on the bass side upper side bout. The beautiful arched spruce top shows heavy play wear above pickups and strings while finish checking is heavy throughout the top.
Both "blade" style pickups are tested and fully functional. The neck (treble) pickup seems to have a lower out put than the neck (rhythm) pickup. All electronics have been cleaned, tested, and are 100% functional.
All hardware is original and fully functional. Updated from years previous, the closed back machine heads are smooth and tune up with ease while keeping tune. Original pick guard shows heavy picking and has a slight bend in between both pickups. Trapeze tailpiece does have heavy tarnishing and corrosion. The ebony bridge has the perfect height and the intonation is set.
Original Hofner hard shell case is included in sale. All hinges show tarnish and corrosion all the while still working very well.
