About Our Beginnings
Peter “Duke” (Papa) Heid, a musician himself, founded Heid Music in 1948. During the debut year of the company’s operation, Peter welcomed a partnership with Gerald “Buck” Jensen, who, like Peter, was a veteran of the United States Army Band. The original store location was in the 300 block of West College Avenue, in Appleton.
Our Story
In late 1957, Heid Music moved to its present location at 308 E. College Avenue in Appleton. Since the mid-70's, Heid Music has been a full line music playground including: band & orchestra instruments, guitars, amps, drums, acoustic & digital pianos, sheet music, band & orchestral rentals and repair service, and accessories for all instruments. Heid Music also provides an education center with group and private lessons.
Today, Heid Music is proud to be a community music resource in Appleton, Green Bay, Stevens Point, Oshkosh and Madison. Our website, heidmusic.com, serves as an online information resource and offers musicians 24/7 shopping. We ship anywhere in the world, offer in-store pickup and free school delivery throughout much of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
We are a third-generation family-owned business with a team of passionate & knowledgeable music enthusiasts. We strive to be the resource for all things music, for musicians at any age and any stage. We aim to inspire people to bring out their inner musician, and let us help them to make the beat possible by connecting people to their instrument and community through music. We enjoy expanding the possibilities & opportunities in music education.
