Original composed in 1897 by F.T. McGrath, this piece was originally written for piano, and has since been arranged for mandolin, banjo, and now alto saxophone. It is a cakewalk or two step, which were popular dances at the time it was written. For the student musician, it is a fine study in syncopation, a rhythm that was used extensively in the dance music of the late 1800's and early 1900's.
