Paul Ristau –Timpani

Paul Ristau has been playing percussion for over 43 years and has been Timpanist with the Fox Valley Symphony since 1995. Paul credits his musical training for a well-balanced and successful life. Musicians learn and develop both left and right brain skills sets, critical to success in any field. In addition to his musical contributions to the community, Paul is Director of Recruitment at Employment Resource Group, where he won Rookie of the Year, Pace Setter and Passion for the Company awards in 2007.

An Gehrmann –Clarinet

An Gehrmann is Director of Bands at St. Joseph's Middle School in Appleton, where she has helped foster musical enthusiasts for over 30 years. She loves performing and is a member of the Fox Valley Symphony and the City Band.

An has been a Heid Music customer since she took up playing the clarinet in elementary school and continues to be a loyal customer today.

Arden Lambert – Violin

Arden Lambert joined the Fox Valley Symphony in 2001 and is assistant principal 2nd violin. Arden started playing violin when she was in 4th grade and has been playing ever since. Her two greatest loves are the music community and her travels to France.

Scott Breyer – Double Bass

Scott Breyer started playing the bass while he was a student in the Appleton Public School System. He has been with the Fox Valley Symphony for over 22 years, playing double bass and stage manager.

Scott is a partner at Tile Unlimited in Appleton.

Ronna Swift – Bass

Ronna became a member of the Fox Valley Symphony in its first season, in 1966, and enjoys the notoriety that goes along with being its longest playing member. She was also stage manager for 10 years. Her sister, Connie, and her brother-in-law, Tim Brickham, were also members of the Fox Valley Symphony.

Ronna also teaches piano and has always sent her students to Heid Music for their musical needs. Peter Heid, founder of Heid Music, affectionately referred to her as "Ronny." She bought her Steinway professional model upright piano from Heid Music many years ago and still enjoys playing it today. Ronna has also worked in Job Planning at the Oshkosh Correctional Facility for over 15 years.

Susan Sullivan – Double Bass

Susan Sullivan has been the principal bass of the Fox Valley Symphony for the past two years. She is also a member of the Green Bay Symphony and the Elgin Illinois Symphony and a substitute for the Madison Symphony. She is a graduate of Northwestern University with a performance degree. Susan also enjoys teaching at the Lawrence Academy of Music and at her home in New London.

David Veum – Cello

David Veum started his performance career with the Youth Orchestra and has performed with the Fox Valley Symphony for the past 30 seasons.

Janet Bond-Sutter – Violin

Janet is an Indiana native and moved to the Appleton area by way of Texas in 1990 to teach violin at Lawrence University Academy of Music. She joined the Fox Valley Symphony in 1991 and plays the part of Concertmaster (principal first violin).

Nancy Kaphaem – Cello

Nancy Kaphaem is a Fond du Lac native and moved to the Appleton area in 1990. She has been teaching the Suzuki Music Program in Oshkosh for 18 years. This is Nancy's first year with the Fox Valley Symphony.

Nancy would like to offer a special thanks to Robert Asman of Heid Music for the wonderful job he does fixing her bass.

Jarad Miller – Violin

This is Jarad Miller's first year as 3rd chair violin with the Fox Valley Symphony. Aside from his participation with the Symphony he also offers private violin lessons at Heid Music.

Matthew Cataldi – Violin

Originally from Chicago, Matthew recently joined the Fox Valley Symphony. He has played violin for over 20 years. When he is not playing violin he works as lifeguard and swimming instructor at the YMCA.
