Todd Heid Elected to NAMM Board of Directors
Carlsbad, CA (February 10, 2014) – At its Annual Meeting of Members held during the 2014 NAMM Show, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Board of Directors welcomed lauded music retailer Todd Heid as one of its new members elected to a three-year term. Heid is one of eight music-industry professionals joining the Board this year. The NAMM Board of Directors provides guidance and leadership to its membership, and to the music instrument and product industry.
As president and third-generation owner of the Heid Music chain in Wisconsin, Heid presides over five retail stores that provide a full line of instruments, band and orchestra instrument expertise, instrument and equipment rentals, a thriving music lesson program, clinics, workshops, and performances throughout the state. Through the Heid Family Foundation, Heid oversees donations to and sponsorships of local institutions that help to build and uphold a musically focused community by educating and entertaining audiences of all ages.
In addition to his years of experience in the music-products industry, Heid brings his family history to the NAMM Board of Directors. "I have been attending NAMM shows regularly since 1994 when I started working for my family's music store,” he said. “Growing up, I would attend shows with my dad and would just be in awe of watching him work the floor. Every show offers so many important opportunities for our business and for me - it's hard to measure.” Heid’s father, Paul Heid, was also a member of the NAMM Board of Directors.
Heid is a member of the National Association of School Music Dealers, a Fox Valley Symphony Board member, and a member of the Community Foundation Arts & Culture Board. He is enrolled, with his daughter Gia, in the Yamaha music school group class, where they enjoy learning piano together.
“As a Board member, I feel the responsibility to push our company forward and become an industry leader,” Heid said. “Brainstorming with other Board members on what programs work and how to improve them is where I can add value. Finding niche markets to enhance and grow awareness of music-making is always our number-one goal."
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) is the not-for-profit association with a mission to strengthen the $16.3 billion music products industry and promote the pleasures and benefits of making music. NAMM's activities and programs are designed to promote music making to people of all ages. NAMM is comprised of approximately 8,500 Member companies located in more than 94 countries.
