Appleton Programs

At Heid Music, many of our locations provide group-learning opportunities through structured classes and free mini drop-in clinics. Click here to see our events page, where free lessons will be listed periodically.

Our Appleton location offers the following structured group classes.

  • Big Bang Drum Camp: a one-week camp that will take your playing to a galactic level!  For drummers age 10-18.  Offered in summer.
  • First Steps in Music: an introductory music course that uses rhymes and songs to help your child grow. Course offers four breakout sessions, Music In My First Year (6-12 mo), Now I'm One (12-24 mo), Now I'm Two (24-36 mo) and Music For Kids (3-4 1/2 years). Offered in summer, fall, and winter.
  • Here Comes Treble: a 10-week group flute class for beginning to advanced players.  Offered in summer.
  • Music Composing Seminar: Three 1-hour sessions for musicians who are interested in learning how to compose music.  Offered in August 2014.
  • Rock Infused Orchestra: a year-round group for string players, as well as other rock instruments.
  • Rock University - Semester Sessions: 8 week sessions offered in fall and winter, and a 6 week summer session for the established band looking for professional coaching, or for the individual rock star looking to be networked into a band setting. 
  • Rock University - Summer Camp: Originally School of Rock, then Academy of Rock, and now ROCK U.  A one-week camp that teaches rockers ages 12-18 how to be in a band with special classes and demonstrations, along with a concert at the end of the week to show how they rock! Offered in summer.
  • Yamaha Junior Musicians Course: a course developed over 50 years, this class helps children develop their musical abilities and express themselves creatively. The course is offered for 4 to 5 year olds during the school year.
  • Yamaha Young Musicians Course: a step-up from the Junior Musicians Course, this class is designed to develop a more well-rounded musician by teaching basic musical skills and encouraging self-expression and independence. The course is offered for 6 to 8 year olds during the school year.
  • Yamaha Summer Music Camp: a three-day camp that teaches students ages 4-15 about different styles and components of making music.  This camp is offered every other summer.  Check back in 2015.
