We are all different, but the flute comes in a standard issue. Working with many flutists across the country and around the world, from beginner to the professional, has given me the experience to help players with small hands or large hands, long or short fingers, and those struggling with medical conditions. I watch the players' hands to help me determine where the keys should be rather than the player having to reach or change hand position to activate the keys. Sometimes it is just a slight bend of the key with no other alteration needed. Of course, to the other extent, there are the flutes that need complete key alterations.

I have had the privilege of working with Jeff Tellock for almost 30 years. He is a superb flute technician, but he is equally gifted in finding ways of helping flutists who have various hand problems. He developed quite an ingenious setup for my flute to accommodate my focal dystonia, and he has helped numerous students of mine by adapting their flutes to fit their hands better. Many of them would have to give up playing the flute if he had not been able to find solutions for them. For Jeff, helping flutists is much more that a profession; he is a devoted and passionate about his work as the performers are about making music.

Since it is not possible for everyone to come to my shop I have had good success talking with people and setting up their flute to fit their needs. Emailing with photos is a wonderful tool as well. Also I have developed key extensions that can be installed into the open holes of your flute.
• No special tools needed
•They come in different sizes
•No need to permanently alter your flute
• Affordable

Jeff Tellock has done all the repair work on my instruments and those of my students for the past six years. His work always meets the highest standards. Jeff is always accommodating when it comes to scheduling and always completes the work when I've requested or sooner. He is a joy to interact with, and it is a great feeling to know that I can send my students to him and be assured the their needs will be graciously met. Additionally, Jeff is a large part of the reason I am able to play the flute today. Several years ago I suffered a debilitating hand condition. Jeff offered a creative solution of custom key work for both my flute and piccolo to help me circumvent the problem. The key work integrated beautifully into my instrument and is so functional that it has allowed me to continue playing at a professional level. I would strongly recommend Jeff to anyone needing custom work for their instrument. Thank you Jeff!

I am authorized to Sell and Service the following piccolos and flutes: Miyazawa, Powell, Sonaré, Yamaha, Muramatsu, Hammig, Dean Yang, Armstrong, Azumi, Jupiter di Medici and Straubinger Pad.

Jeff Tellock built custom modifications on my flute in 2006, following my diagnosis of focal dystoma in 2002. My words in this testimonial will not be enough to describe how much Jeff Tellock changed my life and my career as a musician. After seeking every possible treatment for my hand condition around the county with no success, Jeff rebuilt my flute and my dream of playing again came true! To state it simply, Jeff gave me my career back. Jeff's passion for bringing me back to playing after my diagnosis and his undying energy to make something work in light of my condition was incredible.

My condition caused the loss of all coordination in the ring and small finger on my left hand. Jeff was able to rebuild my flute to play with eight functioning fingers! It is a well-designed system that he engineered to work as easily and efficiently as possible with the right hand. Jeff spent many months and hours with me in designing my flute to function well and to stay in adjustment given the complex set of levers and extensions. My instrument is a marvel to flutists and other musicians primarily for its functionality and secondly because of its polished look. Many flutists say it looks like a work of "art".

Jeff is an extremely important person in the area of musicians' hand health. Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable about many hand conditions and the importance of how instrument adjustments and modifications can bring musicians out of pain and playing comfortably again. I have seen him build everything form minor to very extensive modifications on all wind instruments. I would highly recommend any musician to contact Jeff in regard to instrument modifications and information on adjustments for playing health.
