Jeffery E. Tellock - Personalized care for you and your instrument.
Some of the most common aliments that cause problems with playing the flute are, focal dystonia, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendentious, arthritis and cramping. Even if you are not experiencing any of these afflictions an abnormal bend or curve of the wrist can cause problems. Everyone's hand size and finger length differs but most of the flutes are the same.

Left Hand 1st Finger - Moving the C# button up and or closer to the Bb key helps give the whole left and a more relaxed feel and will reduce cramping significantly.

Left Hand 2nd Finger - The extensions I make come in different lengths and sizes to fit all makes of open hole flutes. They just pop into to open hole without any special tools or alterations to your flute.

The extensions will help relieve the stress and pain in the wrist when the fingers are trying to stretch to reach the keys.

G-Key - The G-key extension is the most sought after modification. Many players that have an in-line G flute have developed problems with their wrist. These also come in different sizes.

G# Key - This key can be adjusted to fit the little finger after other left hand extensions have been fit to the hand.

The G# spatula can be moved closer, up or out to reach the finger rather than the hand/finger trying to reach the key.

If more length is required a small metal extension is soldered onto the bottom of the G# spatula to fit the finger. This can be moved in the future and not make any permanent marks on the flute.

Also a piece of sterling silver can be added to lengthen the key.

Bo Pep - Bo Pep makes a left hand rest that will also help open up the left hand to relieve the stress and help with locking in the hand position.

Right Hand Extension - The D key seems to be the most troublesome. When trying to reach the foot joint keys the player often will lift their ring finger off the open hole of the D key. By adding an extension to the D key it will help shift the whole hand slightly towards the foot making it easier to play the low C & B.

Right Hand Riser - The Bo Pep or Thumbport helps the player to place the right thumb at an efficient location and provide additional support.

I have also found that by adding additional material t the Bo Pep opens up the hand to reduce the cramped feel some players get in their right hand.

Foot Joint - This is just one example of what can be done to the foot joint.

Many other alterations can be done. The Gizmo key can be changed for ease of reach and the key spatulas and rollers can be changed as well to fit the little finger.
