I’m shopping for a used piano on Craigslist…. How do I know if it’s good? Is there anything to watch for?

"We recommend having a qualified piano technician go out and evaluate the piano before purchase. Many used pianos have hidden common problems that aren’t always seen by the eye. Here are a few items that you should be aware of:
Cracks in soundboards may create buzzing or change tone of the piano.
Loose piano ribs might cause a rattling noise or distorting of sound.
Excessive wear or hardened dampers can cause ringing in piano.
Wear, compacting and settling of felt can cause regulation issues.
Here at Heid Music, our pianos go through a 16 point inspection prior to purchase. Stop by to see our selection of good quality used pianos, all pianos have been evaluated and have been approved for mechanical performance and will carry a 1 year parts and labor warranty."
