Registration for music camp has begun. It's going to be an exciting year and an opportunity you won’t want to miss. Music camp is only held every 2 – 3 years, so don’t miss this chance to work with two well-known Yamaha artists (Matt Turner – cello and George Shelby – saxophone) coming to Heid this summer! 

The camp theme is "My Favorite Things" and will include songs kids like to learn that also teach musical concepts. Camp will also focus on movie themes, video game music and musical styles. This year we will feature:
    •  The 12-bar blues and how to improvise
    •  Hands-on time with instruments (percussion and guitars)
    • Time to learn extra piano repertoire (standards, pop or movies)
    •  Big ensembles (Chopsticks, Heart & Soul)
    •  Mini-concerts; staff and students perform their favorite music
    • A composition concert where students will perform music they’ve written
    • Students will hear and see the violin, cello, drums, saxophone, guitar, piano and keyboards!

Dates: June 22 – 24, 2010
Time: 9:30am – 4:00pm, Full-day, Ages 6 – 15 yrs;
9:30am – Noon, Half-day, Ages 4 – 5 yrs

Donna Dahm – Music Camp Director/Teacher
Yamaha Music Teacher, Donna Dahm, has been teaching at Heids
since 1991. Each music camp that she puts together has grown
in size and concept. The professional staff brought in to
share their real life experience is beneficial to our
student's musical growth.

Robyn Metko – Singer and Guitarist
A forth generation musician, Robyn Marie Metko began
entertaining her family and friends as a toddler.

Inspired by her cousin who played guitar, Metko started her
formal music education at age six with private guitar lessons.

George Shelby – Yamaha Artist
L.A.-based saxophone artist, George Shelby, has been a
Yamaha artist since 1986. Shelby has worked extensively with
many of the world's top artists including Michael McDonald,
Stevie Wonder, Larry Carlton and Boz Scaggs.

Matt Turner – Yamaha Artist
Matt Turner is widely regarded as one of the world's leading
improvising cellists. Equally skilled as a pianist, Turner
performs in a myriad of styles.

M.B. Gordy is a master of ethnic percussion. His musical talents have been employed in a long list of commercials, video games, movies and television sitcoms. We are excited to have his energy and talent back again at this year's summer music camp.
