History
Peter Heid founded Heid Music in 1948 with the intention of bringing music and music education to his community. Three generations later, that goal is still the driving force of the Heid Music. Partnered with a friend Buck Jensen, the two nurtured the company into the thriving business it is today. Now, completely owned and operated by the Paul, Bob, Kim and Todd Heid, the company has grown to over 80 employees with stores in Appleton, Green Bay and Wisconsin Rapids. Heid Music is the proud recipient of the first annual Family Business of the Year Award in 2004!

Employees
Each store is staffed with our highly trained personnel, many of whom are professional musicians, and have been here for more than 5 years. Heid Music’s employee retention is so high because we sell quality products at affordable prices and care about our customers.

Intent on Education
Heid Music has been a pioneer in community music education. We offer private studios for instruction in several different instruments including piano, voice, guitar, drums, clarinet, oboe, violin, and saxophone. Currently, Heid Music has one of the largest Yamaha Music Education Studio in the United States and has over 1,200 students enrolled in our music education system.

Deep Roots in our Community
Peter Heid initiated band programs in the Fox Valley in the 1940’s. The Heid Family Foundation – a private foundation has given almost a million dollars in support to charities over the past 20 years. Through strong support of symphonies and performing arts centers in central and Northeast Wisconsin, special community events, donating music or gift items for school fund-raisers, holding workshops for local music educators and the donation of Heid Park on College Avenue , Heid Music is a part of your community.
