A rare beauty in player condition. Superior playability from a 70 year old guitar.
Thick chunky mahogany carved neck has great playability and action. Frets are set and dress very well on the rosewood fingerboard. There is play wear mainly on the "B" string up to the 5th fret. Dot inlays on fingerboard are still in great condition and are sitting perfectly. There are various dings and nicks on the backside of the neck that are throughout. Neck looks to have been reset at one point or another in this guitars long history.
Bright spruce top shows checking and heavy play wear throughout. Main wear is above and below pick guard. The bridge was re adhered (see photos) to the top at some point perviously. All binding is in very good condition for the age; showing no shrinkage. Heavy finish checking can be seen on mahogany back and sides. The back has four short (3" or less) non moving cracks in the wood between the bass/treble bouts. There is another crack in the wood on the upper treble bout. To reiterate, all cracks are non moving. Rear strap pin is missing. Just above the strap pin on the bass side is a repaired crack from what seems to be from the guitar being dropped. Heavy buckle wear is on back. For the age of this instrument, it is not uncommon for these to look like this, but never the less this instrument plays and sounds great.
Original Martin 3x3 machine heads have been replaced with Kluson Deluxe tuners. Pick guard is original.
Unoriginal hard case is included with sale. Original tuners pictured are also included in sale.
